Foundation Studies

A bridging year for students who don't yet meet direct entry requirements for a Bachelor's degree, covering academic English and core subjects.

1–2 years

Diploma

Practical, industry-aligned qualifications in fields like business, IT, and hospitality, often used as a pathway into the second year of a related degree.

3 years

Bachelor's Degree

The standard undergraduate route, with majors across business, engineering, sciences, arts, and health. Some professional degrees (law, medicine) run longer.

  • NCEA Level 3 or equivalent
  • IELTS 6.0–6.5 or equivalent

1–2 years

Master's Degree

Research or coursework-based postgraduate study, often required for advanced professional roles or as a step toward a PhD.

  • Bachelor's degree, relevant field
  • IELTS 6.5–7.0 or equivalent

3–4 years

PhD

Full-time research degree, and one of the few postgraduate routes where international students pay domestic tuition rates at NZ universities.

  • Master's degree or Honours
  • Approved research proposal
